Delegation & tour interpreting
One interpreter for your Chinese delegation throughout the entire programme in Türkiye
Official delegations, chamber of commerce groups and company executives visiting Türkiye often tour several institutions in a day and several cities in a week. Yeni İpekyolu (New Silk Road) provides a Chinese interpreter who accompanies your delegation from airport pickup to official meetings, factory visits and dinners, and coordinates the programme details.

A Türkiye guide for delegations with packed schedules
Istanbul, Ankara and an industrial city in one week
Chinese delegations visiting Türkiye usually have very busy programmes: two or three institutions a day, and Istanbul, Ankara and an industrial city in a week. Istanbul is the commercial hub, Ankara is the capital and home to many ministries, while factories and organized industrial zones are concentrated in cities such as Bursa, Kocaeli and İzmir. Planning the order of cities and the mode of transport correctly is a prerequisite for a successful programme.
Turkish host institutions are generally hospitable, planning lunch or dinner and a tour alongside the official meeting. However, Turkish institutions' schedules can change at the last minute; for example, the official in charge may travel or a meeting time may shift. That is why the interpreter accompanying the delegation not only interprets but also keeps in touch with the other side's contact person in Turkish and quickly rearranges the next steps when changes occur.
The next day's programme is confirmed every evening
Before departure, we prepare an interpreting and transport plan based on the delegation list, institutions to be visited and dates, and research the institutions' backgrounds in advance. The interpreter prepares the correct renderings for speeches and institutional introductions and confirms the names and titles of the head of the delegation and senior Turkish officials. For official meetings with public institutions or chambers, we recommend that the delegation make contact in advance through official channels; we handle Turkish correspondence and document translation.
From arrival, the interpreter accompanies the delegation starting at the airport and provides on-site interpreting at daily meetings, tours and meals. Each evening, the next day's programme and key points can be confirmed with the head of the delegation. When the programme ends, the main points of the meetings and the Turkish side's requests can be summarized on request, making follow-up easier after the delegation returns home.
Don't schedule meetings during Friday prayers: 5 protocol details
At official meetings in Türkiye, seating arrangements and speaking order matter; the senior officials of both sides speak first, then the meeting proper begins. Gifts are usually presented at the end of the meeting. Handshakes are common when meeting; with women, it is appropriate to wait for them to offer their hand. As a sign of respect, “Bey” (Mr) or “Hanım” (Ms) is used after the first name.
As for dining, most Turkish restaurants do not serve pork and some Turks do not drink alcohol, so pressing drinks on guests at receptions is inappropriate. During Ramadan, daytime meals and meetings should be planned with extra care. Friday midday is also when many Muslims attend Friday prayers, so it is better not to schedule meetings at that time. These details may seem small, but they shape the overall impression of the delegation.
For institutions and companies visiting Türkiye as a delegation
Government and industrial zone delegations
Delegations visiting Turkish public institutions, chambers of commerce and organized industrial zones for economic exchanges. Protocol order matters on these visits, and speeches and meetings are formal in nature. The interpreter must know the correct equivalents of institutions and titles on both sides.
Corporate executive groups
Senior executives meeting business partners, customers and potential investment projects back to back over a few days. Executives' time is limited, so the programme must run tightly and accurately. The interpreter accompanying the delegation also helps confirm the next stop between meetings.
Industry associations and trade fair groups
Groups attending trade fairs in Türkiye and visiting local companies while they are there. Fair days bring crowds and a changing schedule, often requiring the group to split up flexibly. Interpreters can accompany the group inside and outside the fairground or escort different members separately.
From accompanying interpreter to intercity transport
Accompanying interpreter
Chinese–Turkish interpreting in every setting, including meetings, visits and meals. Official meetings mainly use consecutive interpreting, while tours use walking commentary interpreting. At dinners and informal conversations, the interpreter also helps both sides talk with ease.
Programme coordination
We confirm times, venues and participants with the Turkish host institutions. Turkish institutions' schedules can sometimes change at the last minute, so reconfirming one or two days ahead is important. We maintain Turkish-language communication with the other side's contact person.
Intercity transport
We can help arrange commercial vehicles, domestic flights and hotels. Between cities such as Istanbul, Ankara and İzmir, domestic flights usually save more time. We build road and flight times into the programme to avoid tight connections.
Protocol and cultural tips
We brief you on Turkish protocol, dress and gift-giving customs, for example seating arrangements at official meetings, speaking order and when to present gifts. Reminders about religious and dietary customs also help the delegation avoid awkward situations.
Additional interpreters for large groups
For large groups or separate sessions, additional interpreters or a tour-guide system can be used. A tour-guide system suits settings where people listen while walking, such as factory tours. We make recommendations based on group size and event format.

Frequently asked questions
Can you contact the institutions to be visited?
We can help you communicate with institutions in Turkish and confirm appointments, but accepting the visit is the other side's decision. If you are looking for partner companies, you can also ask about our matchmaking service. Official meetings with public institutions should generally be requested in advance through official channels.
Is one interpreter enough?
For delegations of up to ten people, one interpreter is usually enough; for large groups, separate sessions or very long days, we recommend an additional interpreter. On intensive programmes lasting several days, an extra interpreter also helps maintain quality. We make recommendations based on the programme.
What happens if the programme changes at the last minute?
The interpreter coordinates changes on the spot. If the service period is extended or a new city is added, the fee is updated according to the actual situation. Major changes are first confirmed with the head of the delegation and then implemented.
What kind of gifts are appropriate for the Turkish side?
Distinctively Chinese tea, porcelain, silk or handicrafts are generally well received. Since many Turks do not drink alcohol, care should be taken with alcoholic gifts. There may be rules on public officials accepting gifts, so modest-value gifts are appropriate.
What if delegation members have special dietary needs?
Cuisine in Türkiye is largely halal and most restaurants do not serve pork. If you let us know about vegetarian, allergy or other needs in advance, we pass them on in Turkish for reservations and receptions. A Chinese restaurant can also be added to the programme for variety.
Do Chinese delegations need a visa to visit Türkiye?
Chinese citizens holding ordinary passports generally need a visa; the situation may differ for official or service passports, so confirm the current rules with Türkiye's missions in China. The Turkish host institution can provide an invitation letter, and we can help translate the related documents. The visa decision is made by the mission.
Can sightseeing be added to the programme?
Short city tours can be added between business engagements, with the interpreter accompanying you. If detailed guiding at historical sites is desired, we recommend hiring a licensed tour guide separately. We take care to balance business and sightseeing time sensibly.
